Supporters and friends join Jose at a fundraiser to discuss the need for a conviction review unit at the Queens District Attorney’s Office. Jose explained that he would not only create a strong and meaningful conviction review unit, but he would also create a community advisory council to that unit which would be composed of formerly incarcerated and exonerated persons, members of the defense bar and other local leaders to help prosecutors understand how these injustices occurred and the human toll wrongful convictions cause individuals and the community.
